Brčko  is a city in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It lies at the confluence of the Brka and the Sava and has around 44,000 inhabitants. Since it was in a narrow corridor during the Bosnian war in the 1990s, which was the only connection between the west of the Republic of Srpska and its east, it was very contested.
