Berkovitsa (Bulgarian: Берковица) is a city in northwestern Bulgaria. Located in Montana Oblast, it is the third largest city in the oblast after Montana and Lom. Berkovitsa is the administrative center of the municipality of the same name Berkovitsa.Berkovitsa lies at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, in the south-western part, 12 km from the border with Serbia. Montana is 23 km northwest and Sofia is 80 km south. It is 12 km to Warschez in the southeast.
